It was since early childhood a dream of me to cross Canada on horseback. I looked at the map of Canada and was impressed without being able to read anything at that time. I grew older, eventually started traveling to different places and finally ended up with my first horse heading off for the Bruce Trail. I didn’t know how far I would get before the first snow would set in - it was much less than I thought and I realized that it took some more preparation to cross Canada on horseback.

In 2004 everything was ready: My mare I trained in Switzerland for Horse Trekking was in Canada, all my stuff was there and it didn’t took long to find the perfect dog: a great Jack Russell puppy. All I needed was a third horse (pack horse). I wanted a Quarter Horse mare, trained (preferably bomb proof) and more than 5 years old which seemed impossible to find. Finally I bought Pearl, a nice quiet mare. But she got lame just after I got her and by that time it was too late to look for another horse and head off. So I postponed the trip.
